The Sui-Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has restored two day weekly gas supply to general industries in Punjab after three months. According to revised gas load-management plan of the SNGPL issued here on Wednesday, gas supply has been restored to the general industrial units of zone (ii) which include Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Multan, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi while for zone (ii) which include Lahore, Sahiwal and Sheikhupura gas supply will be restored from February 21.
The SNGPL said that textile sector consumers having Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) allocations will be supplied RLNG on round the clock basis as per their allocated loads. However, remaining textile sector consumers will be supplied system gas 4 hours a day for textile captive power and 17 percent of allocated load for textile process industry. Rest of the industrial sector shall follow above schedule, it added.
SNGPL management suspended gas supply to industrial units and CNG outlets of the Punjab in December 2015 owing to serious gas shortage which reached 1.1 Billion Cubic feet per Day (BCFD) on the network, but now owing to improvement in the gas demand/supply situation and import of LNG the authorities have started restoring gas supply to other sectors.
The SNGPL on February 10 has already restored gas supply to the CNG stations of the Punjab and will continue till further orders, the new gas load-management said. Current gas load management plans were formulated by the PPP government on January 28, 2013, according to which, it was decided that first priority will be given to the domestic and commercial sectors, while power and general industries sectors will be accorded second and third priority, respectively. The cement sector is placed fourth on the priority list and CNG was accorded the last priority.
