The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has launched a research journal to strengthen intellectual relations between industry and academia. A launching ceremony held at the authority's head office also drew in Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, University of Management and Technology Rector Hassan Suhaib Murad and Policy and Planning Division General Manager Mairaj Anees Ariff.
Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Chaudhry highlighting the significance of industry-academia linkages for promotion of small-medium enterprises said, "The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority will continue its efforts to strengthen industry academia linkages to promote innovation, research and entrepreneurship development in the country."
He then stressed the need to promote research culture to highlight issues and constraints faced by enterprises to seek the government attention, policymakers and development partners.
"The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority has taken initiatives through promoting small medium enterprises-related research and offered various publications including, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority Research Report Series, SME Observer, Sector/Cluster Reports, Investment Guides, SME Baseline Survey 2009, SME Genesis, Challenges and Prospects," added the chief executive officer.
Rector Murad then talked about the need to establish Industry academia linkages not only at the local level but also at the regional and global level. Those also present were other senior officials and those of the University of Management and Technology.
