Customs department on Friday claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle substantial quantity of heroin to UK. According to sources, credible information was received that some unscrupulous elements were planning to smuggle substantial quantity of heroin to UK in the guise of postal parcel. Reacting on the said information, the customs staff conducted raid on a courier office located at Sharae Faisal and recovered heroin from a parcel carrying surgical items. The parcel was destined to UK.
When contacted, spokesman of customs department confirmed the seizure, saying that the action was taken on a tip-off. He said that quantity and market value of seized heroin was being determined.
