Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Friday said investigators can grill any person in Pakistan in the case of India's Pathankot airbase attack. "A joint investigation team (JIT) comprising military and civil representatives will carry out the investigation. It can interrogate anybody in Pakistan," said the minister while speaking to media persons in Lahore.
His remarks came hours after Pakistani authorities formally registered an FIR in Gujranwala police station against unidentified terrorists involved in attack on Pathankot India airbase. He said that that the case is lodged on basis of initial information provided by India to our interior ministry. Pakistan is thoroughly investigating the attack... action could be taken if India provided solid evidences," he said.
"The case's registration demonstrates our resolve against terrorism. Pakistan is committed and will no way allow terrorists to use its soil, we have zero tolerance in this regard," the minister affirmed.
"There are just a handful of anti-state elements in Pakistan, and in Punjab there are almost nonexistent," he claimed, while replying to a question.
Sanaullah said that they were moving in right direction on Pathankot inquiry. He urged India to correct its attitude and approach on bilateral issues. He said this would be beneficial for peace in the region, he added.
He said that Punjab government would welcome any type of accountability regarding 'Orange Line' and 'Nandipur' projects. He said that the provincial government had zero-tolerance for corruption and would take action against anyone involved in this menace.
On the occasion treasury member Waheed Gul said that 100 water filtrations plants would soon be installed in Bahawalpur.
He said 10,000 megawatt electricity would be added to the national grid by 2018. He further said that government efforts had brought Rs110 billion foreign investment into the country. He rejected the impression that the provincial government diverted funds of other projects towards 'Lahore Orange Line Train Project'.
Earlier an opposition lawmaker Faiza Malik stated that 'Orange Line Train' project had been initiated without a PC-1.
