Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that due to the solid economic policies of the government, national economy has strengthened and today's Pakistan is more developed than 2013. He said political parties opposing development projects cannot stop the process of progress of the people. Every effort will be made for completing the projects of development and prosperity of the country, he added.
Talking to a delegation of office-bearers and workers of PML-N), he said work is being carried out speedily on energy generating projects for coping with energy crisis, foundation-stones of gas-based power plants have been laid in Haveli Bahadar Shah in Jhang, Bheki and Balloki in Sheikhupura whereas work is continuing speedily on Sahiwal coal power plant and 1320 megawatt electricity will be generated from this coal power plant that will be completed in 2017.
The CM said besides traditional methods, attention is also being paid to the generation of energy through alternate sources and our every step is towards development of the country. Agreements have been signed between Punjab government and companies of China and Denmark for setting up energy projects of 2320 megawatts in South Punjab and work will soon be started on these projects. Under the agreement with Denmark, Danish wind power generation international company Vestas will set up four wind power plants of 250MW in Rajanpur while Chinese company Hauneng Shandong will set up two coal power plants of 660MW each in Rahim Yar Khan.
