Social activist Alamgir Khan, who had spearheaded a campaign for cleanliness and sanitation titled 'FixIt', was released on bail on Friday, a day after he was arrested by police officials after he attempted to set up a symbolic garbage bin outside the CM House. Khan was on board a tractor and was moving towards the PIDC traffic intersection towards the red zone when police personnel took him and his driver into custody.
An FIR was later registered against Khan in the Civil Lines police station for disrupting traffic and littering outside the CM House. Khan and his driver were presented before the court of the Judicial Magistrate South today where their bail plea was accepted on against surety bonds of Rs 5,000 each. "These minor cases will not deter me from my mission," said Khan, speaking to reporters outside the courthouse.
Khan's FixIt campaign to cover open manholes across the city went viral on social media when he shared videos of himself painting sketches of Sindh Chief Minister with the words 'Fix It!' on open potholes around the city. The videos went viral as thousands of people shared them online.
