Pakistan veterans' maintained their winning streak in the over fifty Veterans Mini World Cricket Cup beating England North by 52 runs to get their fourth consecutive win on Friday at Colombo Cricket Ground. According to information made available to APP from Sri Lanka, Pak side piled up 202 for 6 in allotted 30 overs and restricted the English side at 150 for 7 in 30 overs and lived up to the expectations of being the number one team of the event with four wins in a row.
Ghaffar Kazmi built the innings with magnificent unbeaten 83 followed by Raja Arshad 43, Amer Ilays Butt 17 and Dastgir Butt 14 runs. Pak batsmen made mockery of the English attack by hitting delightful shots to all parts of the ground for the entertainment of the crowd. England South bowling Graham 2/46, Keywood 1/18, Johnson 1/25 and Roscoe 1/28 wickets. When English side batted it found it hard to chase a big total put up by Pak side whose bowler made inroads in their innings with skilful bowling. Graham Shaw 26, Phil Caterall 25, Jim Methewson 22 and Andy Forthgill 24 were their main run getters as most of their batsmen fell cheaply. Javaid Malik was the pick of Pak veterans bowling attack taking wickets for 3/27 and Javed Hayat claimed 2 for 31 to tame the English side.
