The Lahore High Court on Monday issued notice to Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for March 21 in a petition seeking contempt proceedings against him for not taking action against a private production house on charges of plagiarising a drama script.
A drama writer and novelist Umaira Ahmad contended that the court had directed the FIA Director three months back to take action against the production house. However, she said, the officer ignored the court order. She sought contempt of court proceedings against the officer for defying the order. The petitioner alleged that the production house stole her novel "Thora Sa Asmaan" and made a drama without seeking her permission. She said the respondent-producer violated Copy Rights Act and other laws by stealing her novel and prayed for strict action against the respondent for plagiarising her novel.
