Model Collectorate of Customs (MCC), Preventive on Monday claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin to Sri Lanka from Karachi Airport. According to Preventive officials, this action was taken on a tipoff, which revealed that some unscrupulous elements were planning to smuggle heroin aboard via UAE based airlines.
Reacting on this information, the strict vigilance was mounted at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP), they said, adding that staff intercepted an international passenger namely Rameez Butt, who was travelling to Colombo, Sri Lanka en route to Dubai through Emirates Airlines EK-611. The officials said that Rameez was earlier asked to disclose if he was carrying any contraband item and on his refusal, he was sent for body scan that led the recovery of 210 grams of white heroin.
