"Film is a powerful medium of learning. It is a joint effort for many weeks to disseminate the message properly. To produce films for children reflects the mood to prepare them for future leadership" This was stated by Professor Dr Abida Taherani, Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh while inaugurating a five-day "2nd International Children's Film Festival Jamshoor organised by Institute of Sindhilogy in collaboration with the Little Art, Lahore arranged at Pir Hisamuddin Rashdi, Auditorium Sindhilogy.
She assured to provide full technical and other required support in this regard.
On this occasion, Professor Saeed Mangi, Director Institute of Sindhilogy in his welcome address highlighted the objectives of the festival and said that the festival will be a landmark to produce films on different aspects of life of youth and children.
In the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor presented lifetime achievement award to prominent film actor of Sindhi and Pashto films Shahbaz Durani. On this occasion, cultural gifts were also presented to the guests. The festival was largely attended by intellectuals, faculty members and students.
A young film maker Diyach Thebo, who secured first position in films making in NCA Lahore and WON a Lux Award, was also decorated with cultural souvenir by THE Vice Chancellor. In the festival, 77 films from France, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Canada, India, Belgium, Pakistan, Russia and other countries will be exhibited. The films contain themes of Education, Creativity and various trends in youth of today with a reforming motive.
