Mutahhida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday suffered another setback after one of its members of Sindh Assembly, Dr Saghir Ahmed, a former provincial minister, joined former city Nazim Mustafa Kamal-led political party. Dr Saghir also announced his resignation from provincial assembly. He said he had been part of the same system, but "I feel, it's now time to quit!"
"MQM is being driven through RAW funding and I don't want to continue with it," said Dr Saghir Ahmed at a press conference at Mustafa Kamal's residence in DHA. Mustafa Kamal and Anis Qaimkhani were also present on the occasion. He said he has heard from the "top notch" of MQM in London that there was no harm in taking funds from RAW. Dr Saghir Ahmed appeared to be a replica of dissidents Kamal and Qaimkhani as he, too, levelled allegations dismantled that Kamal-Qaimkhani duo had leveled against MQM chief Altaf Hussain at their press conference.
"MQM is the myth and it would be dismantled in days to come," Sagheer said. Seeking apology from his voters, he said," I cannot deliver to the people of my constituency". He said that MQM has ruined the lives of Urdu-speaking people of the city, adding that workers of MQM are on a misguided path. For Altaf Hussain, he said, "It's all over now". He urged federal authorities to bring the Urdu-speaking people back to the mainstream, adding that Mohajirs should not be perceived as anti-Pakistan and RAW agents.
He said he wanted to play a constructive role for the development of the country. He said that devout workers of MQM were used as "tissue papers" besides education has never been a focus of the party. "Party has always sought services of the workers without giving any priority to their education and employment," he said. "I salute Mustafa Kamal for his brave stance on the evil designs of Altaf Hussain," he said and added that he had joined Mustafa Kamal on his own free will and volition and without any pressure.
"I want to work for righteousness," he added. Dr Saghir said that MQM has created chaos in the city by killing thousands of innocent people. "I prayed to party leadership to stop politics of killings but no one listened to him," he added. He said that social life of MQM workers has been ruined due to uncalled for activities of the party. In return to their devotion and hard work, he said, committed workers always got alcohol-influenced vulgar speeches. He said, Altaf Hussain has stigmatised the Urdu-speaking community.
In response to federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan's statement, Mustafa Kamal said that the government should act on the evidences that it has against MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain on their alleged connections with RAW. "The government has all the evidences against Altaf Hussain," he responded to query.
