President of Site Superhighway Association of Industry (SSAI), Mehtab Uddin Chawla has urged Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to resolve the issue of water shortage being faced by the industry. Expressing concerns over persisting water shortage, he said that industrialists in Site Superhighway industrial area are compelled to buy water at a very high rate from tankers' mafia to keep their units operating.
He further said that the Site Superhighway industries are not getting water from KWSB since long and the only source of water was tankers, adding that now the industrial estate is facing a drought-like situation.
He lamented that strong water tanker mafia is taking full advantage of the situation and charging exorbitant rates for supplying water. He claimed that a large number of units including export-oriented ones have been shut down owing to water scarcity and several others are at the verge of closure.
