The Karachi Port handled 119,051 tonnes of cargo comprising 92,792 tonnes of import cargo and 27,159 tonnes of export cargo including 5,556 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 92,792 tonnes comprised of 15,234 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,914 tonnes of general cargo and 57,644 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,159 tonnes comprised of containerised cargo. As many as 5,556 containers comprising of 2,709 containers import and 2,847 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,061 of 20's and 532 of 40's loaded while 298 of 20's and 143 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,290 of 20's and 661 of 40's loaded containers while 1 of 20's and 117 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Hanjin Indigo, UAFL Zanzibar, X-Press Euphrates, Kota Kaya and Intrepid Republic carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. ACX Pearl, Hansa Neuburg, MT Lahore, Adfines Sun, Agata-M and Mathawee Naree carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely ACX Pearl, Leopard, MT Lahore and Agata-M carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday while another ship namely Hansa Neuburg carrying containers is expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. Swarna Kamal, MTM London, Malhari and Elgiznur Cebi carrying oil tankers, chemical and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while three vessels viz. MOL Dedication, Cosco Wellington and Nordic Tianjin carrying containers and coal respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
As many as seven ships namely CV Maersk Denver, CV CMA CGM Racine, MT Gas Sallan, MT Liberty-N, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Bahra and MT Bunga Akasia carrying containers, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday. There were two vessels viz. CV Maersk Denver and CV CMA CGM Racine carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday. There was one ship namely CV CMA CGM Thames carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while two more ships namely CV Mataquito and CV MSC Rachele carrying containers are due to arrive on Wednesday.
