farooq-sattarKARACHI: Deputy Convener of the Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr. Farooq Sattar said on Thursday that the province of Sindh is dear to MQM and that there was no intention to divide the province.

Addressing a public gathering in Sukkur, he said further that there are certain elements who want to break Sindh up.

Dr. Farooq Sattar said that given a chance the MQM will change Sindh for the better.

Sindh pays seventy percent in taxes, he said.

Speaking in Sindhi, Farooq Sattar said, "Division of Sindh Na Khappay, Na Khappay, Na Khappay."

The public meeting entitled "Khushal Sindh, Mazboot Pakistan" is currently being held at the Sukkur railway station.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain is expected to address the audience shortly live from London.

According to MQM, the rally would be historic in Sukkur’s history. Party workers have arrived at the venue from various cities of the province including Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushehro Feroze, Nawabshah, Larkana, Shikarpur, Jaccobabad and Kashmore.

Strict security measures have been set up with deployment of heavy police force along with MQM’s internal security.

Former city nazim Mustafa Kamal said elements conspiring against MQM and Sindhis will not succeed after this grand public gathering.
