An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday extended the bail of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Waseem Akhter and Abdur Rauf Siddiqui in the hate-speeches cases. The MQM chief was accused of delivering hate- speeches against military establishment and other security agencies. Other leaders including Farooq Sattar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Rehan Hashmi, Rashid Godil, Khawaja Izhar ul Hasan, Waseem Akhtar, the candidate for mayor of Karachi, were named in the charge-sheet for facilitating and arranging these hate-speeches.
Waseem Akhter and Rauf Siddiqui appeared before the court during Friday hearing for the extension in the bail granted to them. The court extended the bail of both leaders till 26th March 2016. Over 100 cases were registered all over the country against the MQM chief under the clauses of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 6 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 for making hateful remarks against the military.
