Inquiry report on Shahbaz Taseer's recovery through an alleged operation has been presented to the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday. As per facts and indications, it is obvious that Shahbaz Taseer was not recovered through any operation but abductors themselves set him free. It is still unknown that Shahbaz Taseer was released without any ransom or some amount of ransom was paid for his recovery.
The report further says no one is allowed to attribute this incident to his performance. Interior Minister had ordered an inquiry by a high-level committee under special secretary interior.-PR
NNI adds: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali on Saturday reprimanded police officials for taking false credit of recovery of Shahbaz Taseer, the abducted son of Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer. In its report, a high-level committee told the Interior Minister that Shahbaz Taseer was not recovered through an operation as was initially claimed by police and security forces.
ISPR and police had initially claimed that Taseer was taken out from a compound following an operation. A restaurant owner, on the other hand, had told media that Shahbaz had asked for a phone and called his family. "Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali has reprimanded police officers for taking false credit of Taseer's recovery," a statement by interior ministry said.
Anwar ul Haq, the spokesman of Balochistan government, held the media responsible for the controversy. "I cannot help if media wants to create a controversy out of Taseer's recovery. "Security forces, when contacted by Taseer family, launched a raid in Kuchlak now knowing whether he was alone or there were armed people with him. But there was a peaceful situation. Shahbaz Taseer raised his hands and introduced himself to forces," he said.
To a question, he said that Afghan Taliban had given Rs 15,000 to Shahbaz Taseer and brought him to Kuchlak by motorcycles. "It came to our knowledge that Shahbaz Taseer was kept in different areas of Waziristan for four years before being moved to Afghanistan, where he was held hostage by Uzbek militants," he said. "Shahbaz Taseer was recovered when Afghan Taliban launched an operation against Uzbek groups for pledging allegiance to Islamic State.
"Initially, Afghan Taliban thought that he (Shahbaz) too was an Uzbek, but when he managed to convince them. They gave Rs 15, 000 to Shahbaz Taseer and brought him to Kuchlak by motorcycles. He borrowed a phone from a local hotel and called his family," he added.
