Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has agreed to the proposal of the establishment of Center of Interdisciplinary Research in Materials (CIRM) for Islamia College Peshawar saying that funds for the project would be allocated in upcoming Annual Development Program (ADP).
His approval of the proposal came at a meeting of a delegation of research scholars from Islamia College who met him on Sunday. Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajmal Khan led the delegation at Chief Minister Secretariat and presented research proposal regarding the establishment of said center. Special Assistant to the CM on Higher Education and Information Mushtaq Ghani and Secretary Higher Education Farah Hamid were also present on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Ajmal Khan highlighted the salient features of the proposed center and its significance for research scholars. He told that the project could be established with the amount of only Rs 900 million. He said that the collage sent abroad dozens of students for research studies every year.
"Islamia College has to bear Rs 15 million per scholar which is most expensive," he said.
While seeking project details he said the proposed center would not only make it truly productive in the sense of research but also create large-scale employment opportunities.
