Unidentified men on Sunday lobbed hand grenades targeting two Rangers' pickets located in separate areas of the metropolis. However, no loss of life was reported in both attacks. Following the incidents, heavy contingent of police and rangers, besides rescue teams rushed to the scenes and cordoned off the areas.
According Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) officials, each bomb was carrying 500 gram high quality explosive material.
The first incident took place around 7:40 am, when two persons on a motorbike lobbed a hand grenade at Rangers' picket near Mooti Mehel area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town and managed to flee. The picket wall was damaged in the blast.
Few minutes later, another picket was targeted by unidentified men in Esa Nagi area. Windows of nearby building broke down due to the blast. The back to back attacks created panic among the residents.
Meanwhile police said FIRs have been registered against unknown persons under terrorism act.
