The newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh A. D. Khawaja assumed charge of his office at Central Police Office in Karachi, where he chaired a meeting. The meeting was also attended by DIG Establishment Muzaffar Sheikh, DIG T&T Imran Yaqoob Minhas, DIG Admin Karachi Dr Ghulam Sarwar Jamali, DIG Finance Sultan Khawaja, DIG Headquarters Zulfiqar Larik, DIG Training Iqbal Dara, AIGs Establishment, Welfare, Operations, Logistics, Estate and Management Sindh, and Director IT Sindh police.
The IGP said that professional responsibilities should be performed as per basic points of police rules and all required laws. It was decided in the meeting that those employees sacked for their involvement in criminal cases and crimes should not be restored as Sindh police has no need of such employees.
"It is the need of hour to ensure people-friendly environment at every level in order to bring an improvement in the performance of police department and any negligence and carelessness will not be tolerated in this regard," IGP said. He said that the administrative and financial affairs should be made better, besides ensuring operational and investigation steps extreme transparent and impartial. He directed DIG Establishment Sindh to resolve all affairs of under-process promotions in police department as per rules and regulations with immediate effect, while a day every week be fixed to hear different types of appeals filed by employees and those should be disposed of during office timings.
He said that compensation amount should be paid immediately to those policemen who were martyred and died naturally during the line of duty and steps should be taken in such a way that victim families do not visit offices repeatedly. He said that steps would taken to resolve problems confronting police officers and jawans at police range, zone and districts levels so as to ensure all affairs of police effective. Sindh Police's spokesman has contradicted news about the massive transfers in Sindh police department in media, particularly social media, and clarified that there is no such plan about transfers under consideration; however, transfer and posting could be made as per rules and regulations when required.-PPI
