The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEEP) on Wednesday organised Multi Topic Symposium, here at a local hotel.
The Symposium was inaugurated by Chief Generation & Transmission Officer, K- Electric Engr. Dale Sinkler.
Lauding the efforts of IEEEP, Dale Sinkler said that the institute's efforts for dissemination of technical knowledge to engineers and encouragement of students from engineering and technical institutions were praiseworthy.
He said that he strongly recommended K Electric to participate in this symposium every year.
IEEEP President Engr. Mohsin M. Syed in his address acknowledged the tireless efforts of IEEEP Karachi centre and its office-bearers and encouraged them to carry on their work with new zeal and determination.
Engr. Asif Siddiqui, Chairman IEEEP Karachi chapter, in his welcome address said that engineers were synthesizers, adding that they used the knowledge already obtained by other researchers and develop something new by using the previously obtained knowledge.
He said IEEEP was trying to help our engineers reach the existing level of universal knowledge so that some of them could rise above it and make them proud. "This symposium is just one step towards it, he added.
Explaining the working of IEEEP Karachi centre, he said that IEEEP Karachi Centre arranged a technical presentation every month to impart knowledge and also hold an international exhibition of engineering at Expo Centre Karachi every year.
"The exhibition was well participated by domestic as well as international exhibitors," he added.
He said IEEEP Karachi Centre conducts monthly technical seminars, yearly students seminar for encouragement of students and a Multi Topic International Symposium every year where learned and senior engineers from Pakistan as well as foreign countries participated and presented their original papers.
The first day symposium saw a number of interesting papers being presented and keen question and answer sessions were held.
On the final day discussion on "Coal-based Power Vs Hydro Electric Power, Preferred Solution" would be held followed by a keynote speech "Scientific Information in Quran" By Engr. Jamshed Akhtar, Scholar & Writer, who has especially flown in from India.
