District Kohat clinched the overall trophy by securing 95 points in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kohat Region Inter-District Female Games which concluded here at Post Graduate Girls College Kohat on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Kohat Zahir Shah was the chief guest on this occasion at the presentation ceremony. DPO Zohaib Ashraf, Principal Miss Professor Jamila Khalid, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Organising Secretaries Miss Shamim Khan, Miss Sitara, Miss Hafsa, officials and large number of college students spectators were also present on this occasion with great jubilation, fun and joys were also witnessed. In the cricket final Karak won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up a good total of 102 runs after playing the allotted 20 overs with Sumbal hammered a cracking 45 runs including four boundaries.
In reply, Kohat team was bundled out for 100 runs, two runs short from the winning target. For Kohat Urooj Khan struck an elegant knock of 40 runs with three boundaries and one six. Nadia, Umar and Humaria scored 21, 19 and 17 runs respectively. For Karak Mehreen and Shaheen took three wickets each. Thus Karak won the final.
In the hockey final both Kohat and Hangu teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the stipulated time and to get certain result both were awarded five each penalty pushes on which Kohat scored on all five chances but Hangu missed a target. Dur-e-Shehwar was missed a golden opportunity, thus giving Kohat a chance to win the match.
In the athletic event Kohat won the major trophy by securing three gold medal and two silver medal while Hangu remained at second with one gold and three silver medal. For Kohat Safina was best athlete who won the 100m, 200, and 400m gold, followed by Sadaf of Hangu with one gold and two silver medals while Shamsa of Hangu with one silver medal remained at third as best athlete. In the Wushu Kohat took four gold medals and three silver medal by taking the first position, followed by Karak with two gold and two silver medal. In Taekwondo Kohat took first position, followed by Karak. Kohat took first position in Badminton, Table Tennis, Netball, Squash Basketball and Judo while Karak got first position in Volleyball and second position in Judo, Netball, Squash while Hangu got second position in Volleyball, Table Tennis and Basketball.
At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies along with Rs15,000 as cash prize for the winners and Rs10,000 for the runners-up.
