The French government improved slightly a proposed pay increase for civil servants after a six-year wage freeze, a union source said after a first offer was rejected. The Socialist government offered to increase the reference index for civil servants wages by 0.6 percent in July and again by the same amount in February 2017, the source said.
The government had previously offered an increase of 0.5 percent in November and then by the same amount in March next year, which unions rejected in talks on Thursday as too little.
