Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that promotion of education and uplift of health sector in FATA was the top most priority of incumbent government adding that concrete steps on war footings been taken for the development of health sector, provision of modern health and education facilities to the tribesmen to improve the public health facilities and standards of education in FATA.
He said government was fully committed and steps are being taken for the maintenance of lasting peace and successful repatriation and rehabilitation of TDPs to their native areas. He said that revolutionary steps had been made for the uplift of health, education and other social sectors. He said no efforts would be spared for the welfare of tribesmen and to bring them into mainstream. He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting of FATA secretariat here at Governor's House, Peshawar Friday.
A detailed briefing was also given to the governor from the officials of education and health departments FATA. Besides, Additional Chief Secretary FATA, Mohammad Aslam Kamboh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Sikandar Qayuum, Secretary Social sector department FATA, and other relevant officials from health and education departments also attended the meeting.
Taking stock of the situation on health and education sectors and the working progress of existing institutions in FATA, the Governor was of the view that the vacancies in each healthcare institution and schools should be filled without delay on the basis of merit and respective tribesmen to avail the modern educational facilities within their respective areas.
He directed the authorities concerned to take practical measures for the provision of modern education facilities in all existing education institutions of FATA both in respect of capacity building of respective teaching staff and development of teaching facilities.
The Governor also took the keen interest in ratio of the population being benefited through the existing health and education facilities and desired that steps should be expedited to ensure the and the state of available healthcare facilities for making their proper treatment possible. There is a dire need to rationalize the available resources and ensure their optimum utilization, he added.
He also directed that practical steps should be taken to improve and ensure the best healthcare and education facilities to the tribal people on priority so that the results could be visible. He further directed to take practical and concrete measures to make health centers and hospitals fully functional in FATA.
He directed the officials of FATA Secretariat to take all possible steps to improve the working and efficiency of education institutions and said there is a need to pay due attention to the teachers' training for the capacity-building of teachers. He directed a system should also be devised for the encouragement of teachers in FATA on the basis of their efficiency and added that that promotion of quality education is vital for ensuring the socio-economic development of any country. He said that to improve the health and education sectors, a proper monitoring system should be devised to review the efficiency of the health officials and teaching staff.
