How many posts per second do users "like" on Facebook? How many hours worth of YouTube videos do people watch world-wide? An interactive map, Internet in Real-Time, by trading website Pennystocks.la offers some insight into what is actually happening on the internet in the space of just a second. The site collects data on companies and incorporates them into an infographic. The data gathered from various sources does not represent precise figures, but is based on market estimates.
Nevertheless, the figures offer a fascinating glimpse of the web: Every second, users post 5,700 tweets via Twitter, send nearly 220,000 WhatsApp messages and watch more than 2,300 hours of YouTube video footage.
The world's largest social network, Facebook, sees more than new 50,000 likes and posts per second. Another Pennystocks.la web page entitled "Battle of the Internet Giants" shows how much large corporations earn.
According to the service, Facebook makes a profit of 48 dollars per second, while Microsoft and Apple respectively earn 700 and 1,100 dollars within the same tiny period of time. By contrast, Twitter loses 20 dollars per second, it states. An embed code allows statistics enthusiasts to incorporate these figures into their own websites.
