The Supreme Court on Monday granted one month time to the federal government to provide complete details of extension, particularly about the construction of a hotel in the US Mission's premises. A two-member bench, led by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, resumed hearing of a plea field by Barrister Zafarullah Khan, seeking the court's directives to the federal government about the extension of the US Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave, which according to him was a security threat.
Appearing before the bench, Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan Sohail Mahmood admitted that a hotel was being constructed in the US Mission, saying the Interior Ministry had no objection over the construction. However, the bench asked the federal government to provide complete details of the extension project and adjourned hearing of the case for one month.
