Tribal women from various agencies of Fata, have demanded the abolishment of Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR), to ensure all constitutional rights to them in tribal region and called for merging of Fata into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking at a news conference organised by Takrah Qabailee Khwenday (Brave tribal sisters) at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, the tribal women said they were also suffering from the black law (FCR) as their men and children were.
Women from tribal agencies including Kuram, Mohmand, South Waziristan, Bajaur, Orakzai Agencies participated in while one from North Waziristan could not attend it due to her illness. Those who spoke on the occasion including Shahida Shah, a convenor of TQK, Fatima, Nausheen, Nasihat Bibi, Sakeena Rahman, Kanwal and others. Condemning the law, they said that when someone belonged to a sub tribe makes a mistake, the whole tribe is held responsible and even children are put behind bars for indefinite period and can't be released unless the PA takes mercy on them, which directly affect tribal women, who are reluctant even to raise voice for their loved ones.
They said that the 23rd March was being observed every year in Pakistan to remember the 1940's resolution for independence of the country, which they added it had been brought into being but unfortunately the tribal region is still subjugated in imperialistic powers in shape of FCR, wherein to raise voice for rights is a crime. They, therefore, demanded of the President of Pakistan, Prime Minister and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to repeal the FCR and bestow the downtrodden people with freedom like Pakistan and health, education and other facilities as well.
