Polling for by-elections on Sindh Assembly constituency PS-23 (Naushahro Feroze V) was held peacefully, according to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) According to ECP, voting began at 8 am and continued till 5 pm amid tight security. Police and Rangers were deputed to combat any unwanted situation. But no complaint against any violence during poll was reported, sources in ECP added.
Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered ECP to hold re-election in the constituency. However, the runner up moved to the apex court after rejection of his petition by election tribunal. There were four candidates who were contesting the seat. But the real competition is between Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar of Pakistan People's Party and an independent candidate Riaz Korai.
