A joint military parade of Pakistan's armed forces will take place on Wednesday (today) in the connection with Pakistan Day celebration amidst tight security arrangement in the federal capital. Battalions of the Punjab, Baloch, and Sindh Regiments, Special Services Group, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force and Civil Armed Forces, Armed Forces Nursing, Pakistan Ranger Punjab and Islamabad Capital Territory Police will participate in the parade.
The Prime Minister, the President and all three services chiefs will attend the ceremony. Foreign diplomats, cabinet members and key political figures will also attend the parade. The day will begin in the federal capital with a 31-gun salute. Contingents of all three branches of the armed forces as well as the paramilitary Rangers will present a march past to the President and the Prime Minister.
The law enforcement agencies have put security on high alert in the twin cities to avert any untoward incident and the personnel of Pakistan army have virtually taken control of parts of the city. The city police and 111 Brigade have jointly chalked out a comprehensive security plan for Pakistan Day military parade. Around 3000 personnel of Islamabad police will perform duties in the outer cordon and personnel of army would be deployed in the inner cordon.
Close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed in the adjacent areas of the venue of the parade and law enforcement agencies will also carry out aerial surveillance especially of the parade venue and generally across the city. According to the plan, the traffic going to Islamabad would be diverted towards Stadium Road from Nawaz Sharif Park. The traffic would go to 9th Avenue after crossing the IJP Road. The traffic coming from Islamabad to Rawalpindi would not be allowed to use the Stadium Road.
The traffic from Islamabad would use IJP Road and would be able to enter Rawalpindi from Carriage Factory point. The traffic coming going towards Islamabad Expressway from Koral Chowk would be diverted towards a service road at Khanna Pul. The traffic would go to Murree Road passing through Shamsabad. It would further use the Stadium Road to enter Islamabad.
