All roads of the Punjab metropolis led to Ayub Stadium, where a colourful armament exhibition-the main festivity of the day was held to celebrate the Pakistan Day by Lahore Garrison in a big way. General Officer Commanding Major General Sardar Tariq Amman inaugurated the defence exhibition. The day dawned with 21 gun salute. Quran Khawani and special prayers were offered for integrity, sovereignty and solidarity of the country in unit mosques after Fajr prayers. National flag was hoisted on all the important buildings and formation headquarters.
The major event of the day was an arms and equipment display by Pakistan Army at Ayub Stadium. At the opening ceremony the tilting tunes of war ballads by army band, national songs by students of Army Public Schools and immaculate drill by "Reds" of Pakistan Rangers Punjab added colour to the day long Pakistan Day Celebrations.
A large number of people belonging to all walks of life including students, artists, common folk, women and children kept on pouring throughout the day and evinced keen interest in the arsenal is being used by the Defence Forces to defend territorial integrity of their beloved country. The young officers at the stalls of Infantry, Armour, Artillery, Air Defence, engineers, Signals, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy and Army Selection & Recruitment Centre briefed the inquisitive visitors, who not only felt reassured but left with even greater pride and strength in the defence capability of their armed forces.
