Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Eng Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on behalf of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Mamnoon Hussain honoured one personality of the province with Tamgh-e-Imtiaz, two personalities of the province with Presidential pride of performance and also one personality with Sitara-e-Imtiaz in recognition of the illustrious achievements in their respective disciplines at the Investiture ceremony held at the Governor's House, Peshawar Wednesday.
Besides, Consul General of Iran, and Consul General of Afghanistan, members of the provincial cabinet, Parliamentarians both from the Province and Fata, Senior Civil and Military officials, relatives and well-wisher of the recipients of the National Award attended the ceremony.
Professor Dr Ajmal Khan, Vice Chancellor Islamia College University, Peshawar got Sitara-I-Imtiaz in acknowledgement of his extra ordinary services in the field of education. While, Mansoor Zaman and Iftikhar Hussain got the President's Award for Pride of Performance for valuable contribution in the fields of sports and Drama Acting. Dr Zafar Iqbal was also decorated the Tamgha-I-Imtiaz for his remarkable achievements in the field of education. On the occasion, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Eng. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra congratulated the recipients of the National Awards and also paid tributes to the martyrs of the Pakistan Movement.
While congratulating the country men in general and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA in particular on the auspicious occasion of "Pakistan Day" the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Eng. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said, 23rd March 1940 is the day when the Muslims of sub-continent declared their destiny to have a separate homeland on ideological basis for them adding that the Muslims of India achieved the desired goal within seven years which speaks volumes of their spirit, commitment, wisdom and courage and capabilities of the mentors in making their struggle successful.
The Governor reminded the countrymen that there is a need to maintain complete unity, fraternity and cohesion in our ranks and files and spare no effort for ensuring stability; strength, development and prosperity of the country and our better future.
