Council of Pakistan Newspapers' Editors (CPNE) on Thursday congratulated former CPNE president and chief editor daily Tijarat Jamil Athar Qazi on conferment of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz on him by President on the occasion of Pakistan Day in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of journalism.
President CPNE Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Senior Vice President Ilyas Shakir, Vice Presidents Tahir Farooq, Shaheen Qureshi, Ayaz Khan, Owais Khushnood, Siddique Baloch, Secretary General Dr Jabbar Khattak, Joint Secretary Mushataq Qureshi and Finance Secretary Hamid Hussain Abidi on behalf of members of CPNE have expressed their heartfelt pleasure over conferment of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz on Qazi and congratulated him. Shami and others called upon the government to take such steps in future too for ensuring freedom of press and encouragement of the editors. They said that journalists were the best source for information and guidance of the people.-PR
