Partly Facetious: Lahore and Islamabad

"I was devastated at the Sunday events - in Lahore and Islamabad."
Published March 29, 2016

"I was devastated at the Sunday events - in Lahore and Islamabad."
"I beg to disagree - I was devastated at the Lahore events but angered at the Rawalpindi- Islamabad events."
"I hear you, but isn't it sad that a crowd is allowed to enter Islamabad and then proceed towards parliament and no one, but no one, stops it along the way - I mean given how far Liaquat Bagh is from our parliament surely the hours it took the crowd to reach parliament could have been used by the authorities to stop it along the way."
"The authorities did take appropriate action - Mian sahib was preparing to go to London en route to the US, you know his son is there and that's the routing he has taken in his third term - a couple of days rest in London when on an official visit to Europe or the US on the way over and a couple of days of rest on his way back...and so he cancelled his two day stay in London."
"Don't be facetious."
"Why do you see the glass as half empty always... it's not as if Mian sahib stops in London when he goes to Saudi Arabia. Besides appreciate the fact that this is the first time he has cancelled an R&R (rest and recreation) stay in London."
"One question: if he had already left for London and this tragedy happened would he have returned?"
"Don't be facetious."
"But he did not cancel his visit to London when the Bacha Khan University attack took place."
"That was in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Lahore is Lahore."
"Is he the prime minister of the entire country or just Lahore?"
"Don't be silly, all prime ministers need R&R and Mian sahib takes rest with his son in the UK, remember Zardari sahib was touring his house in France when people were dying in Sindh due to the floods in 2010 and.."
"You nawalas play this game of chess but I tell you the player against you has changed and you keep thinking of the old player."
"Chess?"
"Mian sahib checkmates Zardari sahib who checkmates Mian sahib and where the accountability court is concerned the two check mate NAB."
"Oh I see, so who is the player against which Mian sahib is playing?"
"The constituents, and need I add his constituencies are being challenged not by Zardari sahib but by the Khan."
"Ah yes, the Khan, but wait till election time, Mian sahib has not played all his cards yet while need I add the Khan has."
"Hmmm, but if the people vote for the Khan..."
"But what the Khan says now and does now he will do in 2018 but Mian sahib has some trump cards left and not only relating to improving social and physical infrastructure."
"Don't be facetious."
