Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has ordered strict action against those responsible for placing debris of construction materials on the roads of provincial metropolis asking concern authorities for removal of such material immediately to ensure smooth movement of traffic in the city. He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting convened to discuss problems faced by the residents of University Town and Hayatabad, Peshawar at CM House Tuesday.
MPAs Yasin Khalil, Shaukat Yousafzai, Secretary Local Government, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Director General (DG) Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and elected local government representatives attended the meeting. The meeting deliberated over commercial activities in University Town, illegal construction, sanitation issues and up lift projects. Similarly, encroachments, security and load shedding issues were also discussed on the occasion.
The Chief Minister ordered concerned authorities for identification of proper sites for establishment of educational sector and car cities at Hayatabad and university town. The Chief Minister ordered constitution of a committee headed by Commissioner Peshawar, comprising MPA Town Nazim, DC and others to sort out workable solution for addressing issue of commercialisation of the university town. Similarly, the Chief Minister asked for conducting a survey of the illegal constructions in Peshawar district. He also stressed the need of implementation of relevant rules to check violation of building rules in the city.
He expressed concern over poor sanitation in the city and directed steps for improvement. He also ordered removal of barricades and sand bags put around the police stations of the city to facilitate traffic movement. The Chief Minister also directed for provision of generator for the tube wells of Hayatabad town. He asked concerned authorities for taking on board the elected representatives in implementation of developmental activities. The Chief Minister ordered for putting proposal for establishment of police station at Tehkal Peshawar.
The Director General PDA informed the meeting that implementation of safe city Peshawar project was underway. He informed that motorcycles were procured under the project while hiring of security agency was in process. Similarly, the meeting was told that steps for establishment of Mini Sports Complex at ladies club in university town Peshawar were being taken, while work for the establishment of Food Street in Hayatabad was in full swing. Pace of work and standard of the construction of roads at university town was appreciated in the meeting.
