The district police and law enforcing agencies intensified security in the city while beefing up joint patrolling, police pickets and search operations in various areas in the wake of suicide attack in Lahore that claimed 74 lives and left 313 injured. Police installed pickets on all important roads including University road, GT road, and Ring road and at several places within the provincial metropolis while Army personnel also beefing up security at different points checked each and every vehicles and CNIC of the commuters.
Police patrolling was also increased around government buildings, railway station, central jail, universities and colleges, civil secretariat, flyovers and roads leading to cantonment areas to monitor suspicious activities. Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani has directed all SHOs to intensify vigil and patrolling in their respective areas and conduct search operations against anti-state and criminal elements.
He also directed to strengthen security in the outskirts of the provincial capital and check tenants' details in all residential colonies and villages situated adjacent to the city and without causing inconvenience to citizens. Meanwhile, the police and Pak Army took elaborate security measures under supervision of senior officers to foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements and criminals.
The people were advised to keep an eye on suspicious activities and inform police and army in case of any emergency. Afghans among 21 suspects apprehended in Peshawar
Meanwhile, As many as 21 suspected people including 11 Afghan nationals were arrested during a search operation in Peshawar on Tuesday. According to details, police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted search operation in Hayatabad area of Peshawar. During the search operation 21 suspected people were arrested. They include 11 Afghan nationals. The arrested people were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
