The Karachi Port handled 106,831 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,941 tonnes of import cargo and 15,890 tonnes of export cargo including 4,286 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 90,941 tonnes comprised of 8,569 tonnes of containerised cargo; 28,177 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,762 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,232 tonnes of SB meal; 1,530 tonnes of canola and 46,433 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 15,890 tonnes comprised of 15,202 tonnes of containerised cargo; 400 tonnes of bulk cargo and 288 tonnes of loose bulk cement. As many as 4,286 containers comprising of 1,251 containers import and 3,035 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 232 of 20's and 436 of 40's loaded while 5 of 20's and 71 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 872 of 20's and 362 of 40's loaded containers while 127 of 20's and 656 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Calidris, MT Quetta, Oriental Protea and CS Brave carrying containers, oil tankers and SB meal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Osaka Tower, YM Express, Flagship Willow, Bunga Laurel, Bulk Columbia, Passama, Tabernacle Prince and Trans Spring carrying containers, oil tankers, SB meal, vehicle, cement and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Bunga Laurel, Formosa Falcon and Stolt Courage carrying oil tankers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday while two ships namely Osaka Tower and Yangtze Ambition carrying containers and D meal respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were four vessels viz. Batam Trader, MOL Dedication, SC Dalian and Stellar Maestro carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while eight vessels viz. Leopard, Cosco Sao Paulo, BW Mian, Bunga Lucerne, Amoy Dream, Neptune Pioneer, Chang Hang Jin and Chang Hang Han carrying containers, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 66,424 tonnes includes 22,333 tonnes of furnace oil; 12,500 tonnes of palm oil; 2,590 tonnes of LPG; 900 tonnes of chemical and 28,101 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 24,125 tonnes includes 5,725 tonnes of crude oil, 3,010 tonnes of cement and 15,390 tonnes of containerised cargo. There was one ship namely CV Cardiff carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Cardiff, CV MSC Roberta, CV Al-Hilal, MV Adventure-K, MT Boronai, MT Corona and MT White Purl currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, furnace oil, palm oil and LPG respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CV Maersk Kithira, MV Sea Wave, MV JS Green Speed, MT Al-Gharrafa, MT New Challenge and MT AU Leo carrying containers, cement, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Uruguay, CV Maersk Kithira, CV MSC Lisbon and MT Al-Gharrafa carrying containers and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are two ships namely and CV Tommi Ritscher and MT Okyroe carrying containers and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
