US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro in collaboration with United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) will organise a three-day training workshop on "Geo-informatics" for young faculty and postgraduate students for their capacity building in the relevant field from April 05, at USPCAS-W.
MUET VC Professor Dr Mohammad Aslam Uqaili will inaugurate the newly established Geographic Information System (GIS) Laboratory and the workshop on April 05. Professor Dr Altaf Ali Siyal, training focal person informed that 20 working stations have been installed in the newly established GIS Laboratory. Dr Siyal said that participants of the workshop will be trained specifically for using satellite data for the better management of water and agricultural resources.
"This workshop will be repeated thrice a year", Dr Siyal added. He said that female participants are highly encouraged to apply in this training; however, in subsequent workshops applications will be invited from other provinces to benefit the relevant faculty and students throughout the country. Dr Sajjad Ahmed from University of Nevada Las Vegas, USA will be the trainer in the workshop.
