A group of South Korea flour mills led by DongAOne Co Ltd has bought 33,000 tonnes of wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender for the same volume which closed on Thursday, European traders said. The group, which included Korea Flour Mills, Samyang Corp and Daesun Flour Mills, bought the wheat for shipment between July and August, they said.
The purchase involved a range of wheat types. Some 10,400 tonnes of western/soft white wheat with a maximum 10.5 percent protein content was purchased, of which 4,000 tonnes was bought at $198.48 a tonne fob and 6,400 tonnes at a premium of 69.00 cents over the Chicago July wheat contract, they said. A further 2,000 tonnes of western/soft white wheat of a maximum 8.5 percent protein content was purchased at $236.94 a tonne fob and 9,500 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of a minimum 11.5 percent protein was bought at $202.18 a tonne fob.
