Panama Papers: Punjab Assembly lauds Prime Minister's decision to form commission
The treasury bench put up a resolution in the Punjab Assembly session here on Wednesday appreciating Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for forming a commission headed by a former Supreme Court Judge in which allegations on Panama Leaks would be probed in. The resolution tabled by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that by conspiring and making a satanic base, attempt has been made to create misunderstanding and confusion.
Punjab Assembly opposition that also intended to present a resolution on Panama Leaks infuriated by failure to do so strongly protested in the house. They while raising slogans against government in the house encircled the dais. In the question-answer session, Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department said that WASA installed 12 tube wells in Lahore during 2012-13. To another question, the house was apprised that 57 tube wells had been installed for water supply in Sahiwal.
In reply to a query it was put forth by concerned parliamentary secretary that there were five sectors in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed in Rawalpindi. He stated that there were 12 parks and play lands in the scheme. The house was told by a parliamentary secretary that Lahore Race Course land's area comprised 88 acre and four-kanal area. An amount of Rs 2, 72,850 had been spent on horticulture of the area in 2012-13, he added. With some speakers emphasising on development of health, education and other sectors in the budget discussion, the house was adjourned by the chair later on.
