Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan said that textile industry plays pivotal role in national economy, adding it is a major sector earning valuable foreign exchange for the country. He was addressing inauguration ceremony of Ist TEXPO 2016 held at Governor House, here on Wednesday. He congratulated Ministry of Commerce for organising TEXPO in Karachi.
He said that TDAP had done brilliant job in boosting trade in Pakistan. He said that law and order was improving in city with each passing day. He hoped that TEXPO would encourage the textile industry of Pakistan. Federal Minister for Commerce Engineer Khuram Dastgir Khan said that economy of Pakistan was gaining revival with the efforts of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that energy crisis would be overcome with passage of time.
"CEPEC would be helpful for overcoming energy crisis," he added. He said that Pakistan was resilient country and it had numerous opportunities for foreign investor. "Pakistan has lots to offer. It has great business opportunities," he added. Sri Lankan Federal Minister for Commerce and Trade Rishad Bathiuddin said that Sri Lanka and Pakistan had very closed relations in different fields. He said that Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Sri Lanka had boosted trade between the two countries manifold.
"Both countries signed FTA last year when Srilankan prime minister visited Pakistan," he added. Chief Executive of TDAP said that TEXPO would help pave the ways to boost the textile exports of Pakistan. He also lauded the organisers for initiating first ever textile exhibition in Pakistan. He said Pakistan had participated in 100 different trade exhibitions across the globe. President FPCCI Abdul Rauf Alam, Secretary TDAP Rabia Javeri Agha, President KCCI also spoke.
