Punjab Assembly here in its 20th session on Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution asking the provincial government to compensate farmers as torrential rains and hail storms had destroyed thousands of acres of maze, wheat and fodder in the province. Legislator Muhammad Sibtain while presenting the resolution asked the government to give a package in this regard.
Opposition leader Mahmud Ur Rashid presenting a resolution asked the federal government to constitute Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on merit. The resolution was passed unanimously. In another resolution passed on the occasion a legislator asked the government to introduce such subject matter in the universities (Media) that would promote soft image of the country in the world. The resolution was also passed on the occasion. In Punjab assembly, opposition failing to present its point of view on Panama Leaks protested vociferously in the house. They raised slogans against the government and encircled the speakers dais. Treasury also responding to opposition protest raised counter slogans against leadership of certain opposition party.
In query period, Parliamentary Secretary Revenue and Colonies said that there were 274 patwaris, 25 revenue officials, seven tehsildars, 20 naib tehsildars of Settlement and Consolidation in District Lahore. Parliamentary Secretary to another queries told that there were around 3,85,574 acres of government land in district Jhelum. He said as per Additional District Collector district Jhelum there were 106 stamp vendors in the district.
