The Karachi Port handled 62,005 tonnes of cargo comprising 51,251 tonnes of import cargo and 10,754 tonnes of export cargo including 1,513 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 51,251 tonnes comprised of 7,061 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,806 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,925 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 5,475 tonnes of fertiliser; 2,450 tonnes of SB meal and 29,459 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 10,754 tonnes comprised of 10,749 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 1,513 containers comprising of 419 containers import and 1,094 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 232 of 20's and 64 of 40's loaded while 1 of 20's and 29 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 200 of 20's and 300 of 40's loaded containers while 4 of 20's and 145 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Ponente, X-Press Kailash, Al Mahboobah, Ru Yi Song and Poseidon Triumph carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Kota Kamil, MT Shalamar, Stadt Solingen, King Fortune and Han He carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Kota Kamil carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday while another ship namely Han He carrying general cargo is expected to sail on Thursday.
There were eight vessels viz. Batam Trader, Northern Power, Cosco Wellington, YM Enlightenment, Overseas Athens, Seaharmony, Milos and Santa Fe carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, steel and cold rolled coils respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while six vessels viz. Cosco Eukohama, Robert Rickmers, Kaptan Arif Bayaktar, Li Dian-2, Dato Fortune and Da Yu Xia carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 55,655 tonnes includes 450 tonnes of palm oil; 8,916 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,337 tonnes of project cargo; 2,171 tonnes of LPG and 41,781 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 17,465 tonnes includes 4,070 tonnes of cement and 13,395 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,904 containers comprising of 2,199 containers import and 705 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was two ships namely MV Stade and MT Delia-1 carrying general cargo and palm oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Pitsburgh and MV Da Yu Xia carrying containers and project cargo are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Pitsburgh, CV CMA CGM Amazon, MV An African, MV Stade, MV Da Yu Xia, MV Alpha Flame, MT White Purl and MT Delia-1 currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, canola seeds, palm oil and LNG respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CV Maersk Savannah, MV Trans Nanjin, MT Rudolf Schulte, MT Autaurus, MT GSW Fighter and MT Marangas Alexandria carrying containers, canola seeds, palm oil and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were five vessels viz. CV Maersk Savannah, MV Baoyue, MT Rudolf Schulte, MT Marangas Alexandria and MT Okyroe carrying containers, general cargo, palm oil and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were nine ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV MSC Vitoria, CV Suez Canal, CV OOCL Kobe, CV Rio Dela Palata, MV Malakand, MT Al-Ghashaniya, MT Al-Dasma and MV Stade carrying containers, general cargo, canola seeds, LNG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
