Prices of most of important kitchen items including pulses, vegetable, chicken, sugar, flour, remained stable as no significant increase or decrease was recorded in rates during the preceding week, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. Traders in provincial capital said the prices remained unchanged because of improving supply of commodities as almost all kinds of food grains are being sold at same rates.
A bag of 49-kilogram high-quality rice being sold within range of Rs 5,635 and Rs 5390 while low quality of rice sack of weight 49-kg, available at Rs4410/- in the wholesale market without any significant change during preceding week.
Similarly, a 49 kg bag of Moonge is available at Rs 7840, Dal Channa at Rs 3500, Malika Masoor is being sold at Rs 5700, big channa selling at Rs 4400 to Rs 4500, red bean at Rs 4400, Dal mash green at Rs 6000, red mauwa at Rs 7000 to Rs 8000, Dal mash yellow 7400 to Rs 7200, Dotti Dal at Rs 6500 to Rs 7000.
The survey further noted that prices of various brands of ghee/cooking oil have gone up and rates of all brands of cooking oil increased from Rs 10 to Rs 15 per one-kilogram bag. It was noticed that a 16-kilogram tin available with range of Rs1840 to Rs 2500, while prices of cooking oil also firm, as cane of 16-Kilogram available at Rs 2630, Rs 2300, Rs 2400 and Rs 2680.
During the survey, it was witnessed that prices of the vegetable slightly declined.
It was also noticed that rates of eggs declined with increasing temperature as big size aggs available at Rs 90 per dozen and small size eggs being sold at Rs 80 per dozen.
Vendors in provincial capital, also charging consumers with artificial rates of fresh milk as available at Rs 60, Rs 80 and Rs 90 per kilogram, while yogurt is also being sold at Rs 80 and Rs 90 per kilogram, despite official fix rate of Rs 55 for fresh milk of one litre, and Rs 70 for one kilogram yogurt.
The prices of all varieties and range of fruits also unchanged.
