Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has asked the federal government to share the actual data of power generation in the country with the provincial government and ensure provision of the allocated electricity quota of 13.5% to help eliminate loadshedding in the province. This he said while presiding over a high level meeting convened to discuss the unscheduled loadshedding and other related issues in the province held at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar on Monday.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers InayatUllah Khan, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Muhammad Atif Khan, Shah Farman Khan, MPA Mian Khaliq-ur Rehman, District Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim, Chief Pesco Anwar-ul-Haq Yousafzai, provincial Secretary for energy Naeem Khan and other high ups.
The meeting discussed the issue of frequent loadshedding and other PESCO related issues in detail. Pesco authorities informed the meeting about the steps being taken for improvement of transmission line, elimination of line losses and decreasing loadshedding hours in the province. The meeting decided to launch a joint awareness campaign by the provincial government and Pesco in the province from the first May to discourage illegal use of electricity and convince the people to pay their electricity dues to improve loadshedding situation in the province.
The Chief Minister on this occasion ordered the Pesco authorities to reduce line losses to overcome loadshedding. Similarly, the Chief Minister directed constitution of high level committee headed by the provincial secretary for Energy and comprising Pesco authorities and elected Nazimeen to put forth recommendations for reduction of line losses to the provincial government.
The meeting jointly decided to repair the out of order transformers in a Pesco approved workshops only. It was also decided that expenditure incurred on the repair of such transformers would be paid through TMAs. On this occasion, all administrative secretaries including secretaries for education, public health engineering and irrigation were directed to keep a close liaison with Pesco authorities to speed up the implementation of the delayed electrification schemes.
The Chief Minister assured Pesco authorities of full cooperation of the provincial government with Pesco in checking illegal use of electricity and recovery of Pesco dues to eliminate loadshedding in the province. Moreover, underlining the need for discouraging power theft, the Chief Minister asked the Pesco authorities to take action against Pesco staff involved misuse of electricity.
