Petition seeking probe into Panama Papers: LHC told petitioner to submit fee for serving court notice
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed a petitioner to submit fee for serving court notice on the prime minister, his family members and the Punjab chief minister in a petition seeking court's order for a thorough probe into Panama Papers leaks linking politicians, businessmen, former judges and others to offshore companies. On April 7, the court issued notices to the respondents on the petition filed by a lawyer Javed Iqbal Jaffery.
On Monday, the court was told that the service of the notices could not be made, as the petitioner failed to deposit the fee to serve the notices. Jaffery has already forwarded the application in his already pending petition challenging alleged foreign assets maintained by 64 known personalities of Pakistan including the incumbent and former rulers and their family members, two former justices, lawyers and a property tycoon.
