Commissioner Karachi Asif Haider Shah on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the measures and arrangements to protect people from the effects of expected heat wave. The meeting decided that co-ordination will be developed with all concerned departments to protect the masses from expected heat wave, said a statement. A cell has also been established in the Rescue Department `1299'at the office of Commissioner Karachi, to co-ordinate with all the concerned departments.
Secretary Health, Dr Saeed Ahmed, all deputy commissioners and officials and representatives of Sindh Disaster Management Authority, Rehabilitation Department, KMC and DMCs also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail the arrangements made by the KMC and DMCs to facilitate the people in the expected hot weather. The welfare organisations include Hial-e-Ahmar, Edhi Foundation, Aman Foundation, Aalamgir Welfare Trust and JDCs also presented their suggestions regarding steps taken for the heat wave. The meeting was informed that over 500 relief centre will be established in Karachi, to provide emergency relief and treatment to the people in the expected heat wave.
