Girls College (GGC) Mardan clinched the overall trophy of the Inter-College Girls Games held under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan here Tuesday. Chairman, BISE Mardan Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary BISE Mardan Tariq Jan, Miss Haleema Bagum, Principal Girls College Mardan, Director Sports Muhammad Sabir, Assistant Director Sports Asia Noor, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present during the Annual Day Sports ceremony of the BISE Mardan.
Girls College Mardan secured overall trophy by recording 30 points, followed by Govt Girls College Swabi with 20 points and Govt Girls College Pabbi remained at third with 12 points. The players Urooj Ali and Zainab were jointly declared as best players of the Games as both secured 27 points each. Urooj Ali and Zainab took two gold medals each and a silver medal. Urooj claimed gold medals in 100m, 200 and silver medal in high jump while Zainab claimed two gold medal in discus throw and javelin throw and silver medal in 400m. All affiliated colleges with BISE Mardan took part in various games comprising table tennis, volleyball, football, basketball, cricket, handball, and tug-of-war. The events organised by the Directorate of Sports BISE Mardan on various grounds wherein all the affiliated colleges took part, said Organising Secretary Asia Noor while presenting her annual report.
She lauded the support extended by Chairman BISE Mardan Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary BISE Tariq Jan, Principal Girls College Mardan Haleema Begum. She said without their support they could not be able to hold the event in a befitting manner. Along with hold Inter-College Girls' competition, the BISE Mardan also organised eight different games wherein all the affiliated Govt Higher Secondary School in which Govt Higher Secondary School Takhbhai took 26 points.
Quaid-e-Azam Public School took second position by securing 17 points with Iram declared as best player of the Games. The players of all GHSS took part in eight different events comprising table tennis, volleyball, netball, basketball, badminton, cricket, hockey, and football.
Likewise the Directorate of BISE Mardan organised Games by involving the students of all affiliated private schools. There were three different competition comprising volleyball, cricket and netball. At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and cash prizes to the position holders. In his brief chat, Chairman BISE Mardan Mushtaq Ahmad also lauded the efforts of Assistant Director Sports Asia Noor for holding the events in befitting manners. He also assured the players of all affiliated institutions that BISE managements would extend all out support to them for their involvement in healthy sports activities.
