The law enforcement agencies have chalked out comprehensive security plan for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public gathering at F-9 Park on its foundation day being held today (Sunday) to thwart any untoward incident. A senior official of police said the city police have made elaborate security arrangements for PTI's public gathering under which 6,000 security personnel, including personnel of Islamabad Police, Frontier Constabulary (FC) and Rangers would be deployed to guard the public gathering as well as in the various parts of the federal capital. The security personnel including Islamabad Police, FC and Rangers would be deployed in three tiers, he said.
He said special arrangements would be made for checking of all participants of rally. Walkthrough gates and metal detectors will be used for checking of participants. The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration had also set up closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) at the venue and aerial surveillance of the venue would also be conducted, he said.
He said no participant of the rally would be allowed to carry arms and ammunition or any sort of weapons, batons or sticks. Quick Response Force (QRF) teams, fire-fighters of fire brigade, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and ambulances of Rescue 1122 would remain on alert on the occasion, adding the city main hospitals including Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Polyclinic and Capital hospital would also be put on high alert.
The official said police personnel had conducted checking of venue with the help of sniffer dogs. Tariq Masood Yasin, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad visited the F-9 Park Area and he issued directives to ensure complete security on the occasion as well as conduct complete screening of the venue and combing operation in the various parts of the city including forest areas.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has made special traffic plan and would remain present on various roads to avoid inconvenience of motorists. He said according to the code of conduct, signed between ICT administration and PTI leadership, the participants of public gathering would not go anywhere in Islamabad beyond the designated venue of the rally. The rally would end at 10:00pm and venue will be vacated at 11:00pm, he said.
The official said PTI MNA Asad Umar had signed the draft agreement. Under the agreement, lady police and female workers of the party would be deputed for the body and bag search of females. ICT administration had made it clear that the strict action would be taken if the participants violated code of conduct, he said.
