The prices of most essential kitchen items including wheat flour, vegetables and tea have declined during past week as compared to the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of live chicken in the wholesale market reduced by Rs 500 per 40 kg from Rs 5,500 per 40 kg to Rs 5,000 per 40 kg, while in the retail market chicken is being sold at Rs 150-155 per kg against Rs 170 per kg, while chicken meat price is being sold at Rs 280 per kg against Rs 320 per kg.
Sugar price is stable at Rs 3,000 per 50 kg bag in the wholesale market which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 68 per kg, Lipton Yellow Label per pack of one kg is available at Rs 650 against Rs 690 per kg pack, eggs in wholesale market are being available at Rs 70 per dozen and in the retail market at Rs 75 per dozen against Rs 84 per dozen. Wheat flour price has reduced from Rs 780 per 20 kg bag to Rs 750 per kg in the retail market. Prices of all range of cold drinks in the wholesale market has reduced from Rs 430 per carton to Rs 400 per carton, while in the retail market there is no change in its prices as the retailers are not passing on the benefit to end consumers.
During the week under review, prices of most of the vegetables have reduced in the wholesale market as arvi is being available at Rs 350 per 5 kg against Rs 400 per 5 kg, beans at Rs 250 per 5 kg against Rs 300 per 5 kg, green chilli at Rs 200 per 5 kg against Rs 400 per 5 kg, cucumber at Rs 60 per 5 kg against Rs 100 per 5 kg, okra at Rs 300 per 5 kg against Rs 600 per 5 kg, Kareela at Rs 140 per 5 kg against Rs 200 per 5 kg and tinda at Rs 120 per 5 kg against Rs 140 per 5 kg and maro kadu is being available at Rs 75 per 5 kg against Rs 150 per 5 kg while ginger is being sold at 100 per kg, local garlic at Rs 100 per kg, Chinese garlic at Rs 280 per kg and spinach is being sold at Rs 50 per five kg against Rs 80 per 5 kg.
Tinda in the retail market is being available at Rs 25-40 per kg and capsicum in wholesale market is being sold at Rs 120 per 5 kg against Rs 300 per 5 kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 60-65 per kg. The survey observed that cabbage price went down from Rs 150 per 4 kg to Rs 75 per 5 kg in the wholesale market, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 20 per kg, carrot at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 150 per 5 kg, cauliflower price reduced by Rs 40 per 5 kg in the wholesale market from Rs 220 per 5 kg to Rs 180 per 5 kg which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 40 per kg.
There is no change in the prices of beef and mutton as boneless beef is being sold at Rs 450 per kg and mixed beef at Rs 380 per kg whereas mutton is available at Rs 700 per kg. Onion is being available at Rs 180 per five kg in the wholesale market and at Rs 45 per kg in the retail market, peas are being sold at Rs 300 per 5 kg in the wholesale market which in retail outlet are being sold at Rs 80 per kg, potatoes at Rs 80 per 5 kg in wholesale market and Rs 20 per kg in the retail market and brinjal is being sold at Rs 20 per kg. Spinach is being available at Rs 15 per kg, lemon price went up by Rs 70 per kg from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 150 per kg, mathi at Rs 10 per kg against Rs 20 per kg, turnip at Rs 30, carrot at Rs 40 per kg and cucumber is being sold at Rs 20 per kg.
The prices of fruits remained stable during the week under review as best quality apple is being sold at Rs 200 per kg, Iranian apples at Rs 120 per kg, while normal quality local apple is available in the range of Rs 60 per kg to Rs 100 per kg, local banana is being sold at Rs 80 per dozen, Indian banana is being sold at Rs 150 per dozen, out of season fruit orange is being sold in the range of Rs 150-200 per dozen and guava is being available at Rs 80 per kg. Strawberry is being sold in the range of Rs 150 per kg to Rs 200 per kg. The price of melon reduced by Rs 15 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 35 per kg and watermelon from Rs 30 per kg to Rs 20 per kg.
Mash pulse is being available at Rs 260 per kg, masoor at Rs 150 per kg, different qualities of mong pulse in the range of 140 to Rs 160 per kg, gram in the range of Rs 110 to Rs 140 per kg, white lobia at Rs 120 per kg, while red and black lobia in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg.
A domestic cylinder of 11.8 kg of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is being sold at Rs 800 per cylinder, while per kg LPG is being available at Rs 75 per kg. No change was observed in the prices of different quality rice which are available in the range of Rs 40 per kg to Rs 130 per kg. Normal Quality wheat flour is being sold at Rs 790 per 20 kg bag, yogurt is available in the range of Rs 90-100 per kg while fresh milk is being sold in the range of Rs 80-90 per kg.
