The search committee has shortlisted 33 candidates for the post of the vice chancellors in nine public sector universities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The universities are Gomal University (DI Khan), Kohat University of Science & Technology (KUST), Hazara University, University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar, Islamia College University (ICU), Peshawar, Abbottabad University of Science & Technology, Women University, Swabi, Shuhada-e-Army Public School University of Technology, Nowshera and Women University Mardan.
As per the new law and to ensure transparency in the process, the KP government had recently advertised the vacant positions of vice chancellors of nine public sector universities. To select best persons for the appointment of vice chancellors for public sector universities, search committee has started interviews of different educationists.
Out of the total 33 shortlisted candidates, four will be interviewed on skype as they are away from the country. KP government recently reconstituted the search committee for vice chancellors appointment. Former chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr Atta-ur-Rahman has been made its convener with Dr Sohail H Naqvi, former executive director HEC and Vice Chancellor LUMS University Lahore, Dr Ishrat Hussain, Director Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, Dr Ghulam Abbas Mian, Rector Rifah University Islamabad and Secretary Higher Education as committee members.
