First group of 80 Pakistani students will pursue classes in their respective disciplines from the coming fall session. Dr Laszlo Palkovics, Hungary's Minister of State for Education and Chairperson Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, discussed it in a call on meeting between both the dignitaries.
The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last year in this connection for awarding 240 scholarships to Pakistani students giving them an opportunity for benefiting from Hungarian institutions, said a news release.
Dr Palkovics expressed desire to establish long-term relationship under the umbrella of Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme. He highlighted that among the list of 48 countries, number of applications from Pakistan was the highest.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmed expressed gratitude for the scholarships offer by the Hungarian Government. He also gave a brief introduction of the higher education sector of Pakistan.
It was agreed to establish close linkages between top-ranked universities of both the countries through joint research programmes, workshops, conferences, exchange of faculty and scholars, joint research and development programmes, in fields of mutual interest.
In this context, a delegation of Pakistani academicians will soon visit Hungary.
